I have. But only when the bit that anaps into the housing that the threaded part goes through isn't totally disintigrated. I drill a hole from the top through the housing and the plastic bit and thread a hex head screw through it all the way to the threaded rod. That holds it in place and gives the adjuster something to turn against. You can reach the hex head screw with a small wrench from in the engine bay to snug it up.
