I was advised the 215mm was LESS stiff than 228mm Posted by DET17 [Email] (#1254) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DET17) on Fri, 31 May 2013 03:46:42 In Reply to: Re: New SACHS KF436-02 clutch - too stiff ???, 900 Aero [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 30 May 2013 15:30:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
which obviously was wrong. My 90T has the later 9" (228) clutch and the pressure is light. This 215 would have to have the same compression springs for disc clamping (or close, if they were rated for the same torque), but with a 1/4 inch shorter lever for compressing those springs, the required force at the slave would have to be higher!
The confusion for me came when I fitted the clutch into my son's 90S, which took the smaller 215 clutch, and the pressure was also VERY light. However the old clutch was completely worn out, so perhaps it was the large reduction in actuation force that I recall.
Dang it. The 215mm clutch is installed. I'd hate to tear it all back out and redrill that flywheel for the 228mm pattern & dowels.
