Only if the inner driver spins while the axle is Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Thanks, guys, bill schultz ![]() |
stationary. BTDT
Last time an a-arm broke, that's what happened. Ended up with needle bearings all over the driveway. The flatbed driver didn't quite understand how low SPGs are so we had a heck of a time getting it off the flatbed. I was hoping that there was enough strength left in the a-arm to give it a gentle push and get it off the lip of the flatbed with reverse. There wasn't ... the axle pulled out of the inner driver, which turned while the axle didn't. It was late and I was tired. Had a couple of spare drive axles, so it wasn't disabling.
This time, it stayed together, so nothing to pick up with a magnet.
As of half an hour ago, it's all back together with its elderly replacement a-arm and things are copacetic ... until the next gravity wave from the black hole in the middle the SAAB repair continuum hits (If anybody's going to do a transmission rebuild or a T5 conversion, post it before it gets started so I can stay home that day :-)
