Yup, that's the bearing when its breaking apart will cause the steering wheel to become very stiff. When it went on my car the needle bearings jammed the wheel in one position while I was turning a corner it took all my might to bust the wheel free to bring the car straight again. Scared the crap out of me when it happend. Afterwards the wheel will remain stiff sort of like a cornering assist meaning while turning a corner one can take their hands off the wheel and the car will continue round the corner. I know that bugger well 'only option I found was parts cars with low miles for a full replacement of the entire u-joint. I haven had the steering shaft go but that lower u-joint is the worst.
E-bay sellers know about the problem and sell the y-joint for a ton of cash for a used one because they know one can't get them anywhere else (if your so lucky to find one there) other wise one can get it next to nothing at a pick n' pull, but pulling the part out in this heat is the worst.
