since there are - small, but above zero - chances, that SRS ECU may be able to sense whether it goes disconnected from the cable harness - there are the capacitors which keep it powered after the on-board power supply is killed and the wiring connector is of special design which shortens the wires when it goes disconnected - then I'd say that it is worth to leave the car for a day (or a night) to drain out the capacitors after you have disconnected the battery before you disconnect the SRS ECU.
I don't have Saab factory SRS manual with me right now so I can not check the official instructions on SRS ECU removal and have to rely on the common sense (actually, on my version of the common sense): SRS ECU is designed to keep on working for some time after the on-board power is switched off, but there must be the ways to remove off the car (e.g. before a paint-job which requires heat-treating) and to later have it re-installed.
