I don't think it's old and weak .... When I put KYBs on my car, I used a floor jack to compress them. The stock shocks I replaced had most of their pressurization gone.
I forgot that these Boges are gas-charged shocks. If they were that hard to force into position, they'll have a bit more force to raise the front. Not a whole heck of a lot, but enough to give a visual impression of greater height.
FWIW, sasab.com has rear spring spacers for C900s. I've been considering those.
With the new shocks and bushings, you'll probably want a good front end alignment. I found a great place near me in Lilburn. That's a bit of a trek for you, though. I was very impressed with the job they did on mine including setting camber and caster to factory spec (without hounding them to do it!) The next time I go there, I'll have them do some custom camber and caster settings.
