Replacing Ignition Cylinder on 94 CE Posted by Carraig Dhubh [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Is there a step by step procedure for doing this? Is it relatively simple? I think I read somewhere that driver and maybe passenger seats have to come out, along with console and more but not at all sure. I have found my key codes and locksmith who can cut to codes and he is even willing to undertake replacing the cylinder but I wonder whether this is a job for a trained Saab shop. Does also having to replace the reverse lock out add a lot of complexity to a cylinder replacement. What we would like to do is re-key the new cylinder to maintain the same key code and commonality with door and trunk locks, rather than re-key locks to the new cylinder lock codes. Has anyone found this possible? I have undertaken small fix it tasks before but am not up to this so hence the request for help with a step by step procedure and other questions. My Car is #18 at saabce.com and is a real beauty, so I am very keen to fix what I broke with a bloody cup of coca cola!
