Just did this rework last summer whilst converting my 91T 'Vert to manual.
YES, it works. Don't bother removing that whole pedal assy. which is a monster in the ABS cars. The cut down Auto brake pedal will accept the manual brake rubber pad OK. As I recall the 3 sides are about perfect but the 4th side has the wrong geometry stamped in it, so the replacement rubber pads (eEuro, mine) doesn't fit perfect. However, having been about 10 hours of driving now, and she has fallen off. I think to seal the deal I slathered my rubber pad with black RTV at final assy.
