A virus is nothing more than a program & like any program it can be deleted, and just like a program its scripted (wrote)to do a certain thing. Programs have a specific path it needs to take to work and if any step in its path is broken or corrupt it won't work & just like all programs you as the user have to download it and install it. Viruses don't magically get into your p.c.

For Microsoft to say they are not supporting xp is the best news I ever heard. My biggest fear was Microsoft updates. To many time my p.c said it found a new update from them and after a download and install the new update conflicted with my pc and left it dead.

I been running xp with out updates for 7 or 8 years now and never ever have had a viruse blocker program installed. I had about 4 viruses in that time, all of which were a simple delete, except for one which was a major blunder on my part. Feel like a idiot for just mentioning it.

My bro told to me he was getting hit with viruses on a weekly bases after I mentioned I'm using the same p.c for so long and just keep upgrading its guts (hardware) he said in 7/8 years he went through more computers than he could count. He said when he got a virus he'd just toss the p.c out and buy a new one. Long story short I told him to let me look at his pc when he got bombed again. Shortly there after he's got one and after I had a look at it, you want to know where he was getting his viruses from...... His virus blocker. Seems the company would send out viruses to the p.c in an auto update so when my bro would run the virus blocker program it would detect this new virus and qourenteen it. Which made my bro a loyal subscriber.

In reality a virus is very hard to get. A fake virus that comes in your temp Internet files is easily deleted, a huge one that was a download from some shabby website could be more severe. But all in all a p.c is the same as a car it just needs to know how to run. Win xp without updates and virus blocker is the same as a car without anti lock brakes and air bags.

When was the last time you got a virus? And as for the new heartbleed virus,

Don't you think its quaint for it to come out the day after Microsoft quit supporting xp. Huge scare tactic to get users to upgrade. Like the swine flu scare, you'll never know anyone who got heartbleed. The news reported people actually died from the swine flu
