Cluster Bearing .... Advice please ....

My '93 900s has around 236,000 on it. Since I got the car in 2007 I've had the tranny rebuilt, head gasket replaced, lots of suspension work done, harmonic balancer replaced, etc., well, you can see where this is going .... my indie thinks there's an issue now with the cluster bearing so the tranny will have to come out and I'm just wondering whether the repairs will EVER End! LOL. It's not like i drive the car hard or even use it much on a daily basis (i work from home and every morning drop my wife off at the local train stop for her to get to work. I think he estimated it as a 16 hour job, but my main concern is if this ever will be a reliable enough car for the next, say, 70,000. Or maybe I should think about something else. Hard decision! My guess is that I've probably spent around 8K on this car since I've had it, but that also includes cosmetic stuff, like headliners, new seats, etc. Cosmetically it's very very nice and mechanically it runs fine ... until it doesn't! LOL Anyway, i'm sure some of you have been in this situation .... Just as a side note - I have a '73 MGB and last Fall my clutch had to be replaced ... I found a really great MGB buff who took the car, removed the engine, replaced the clutch, replaned the cylinder and replaced the head gasket, replaced a bunch of seals, water pump, etc., and the car runs and feels totally reliable. Much more so than the Saab. It just seems like every year I spend $1000 on this thing! LOL! Thanks for listening!
