Battery drain 1991 turbo vert Posted by Landjet [Email] (#16) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Landjet) on Fri, 30 May 2014 19:25:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've been dealing with a pesky battery drain -- a fully charged battery is good for only a week, and then it has to be jumped or charged.
I bought a special ampmeter that has a plug you insert into where the fuse is placed -- it registers the current draw. I tested the entire fuse box on the driver's side....all zero amp draw. Then moved to the passenger side where there is a small fusebox holder -- no current draw.
Moved to under the rear seat and got to the next to the last fuse -- Door Locks/Interior 10a fuse. It registered 0.1 amp draw.
I cycled the driver door key on and off and turned the center console switch on and off a few times. Now, the ampmeter registers zero, so I don't know if it was the rocker switch or the door key. The rocker switch in the door position does not turn on the interior lights when the doors are opened. It does operate to turn the interior lights on and off toggled the other way.
So, any suggestions on what to do other than try to find a new interior rocker switch which I think is NLA or take apart the door, and fiddle with the door lock cylinder. I loathe going into doors as it ruins the unobtanium inner door moisture barrier......arrrrghhhhh
