But if you like the Haynes manuals, you should get one of those too. They are abundant and cheap on FleaBay. I think I bought mine for $2.95 and $5.00 shipping. That being said, I can't remember more than 1 or two occasions where I consulted the Haynes.

Advise to pull all the carpets and address any rust in the floor is spot on. My old 1990 vert had to have new metal welded in, and I even found an area of rust in my "new" 1988 that had rusted through. Depending on where it is and how structural the location is,you may be able to get away with a POR-15 plus fiberglass repair. If it is big, you are going to want to weld because the continued flexing of the floor will eventually break the fiberglass loos from where it bonds to the metal.

However, if the area where the rust is is rigid and does not flex, fiberglass can be very effective. Check for rust outs in the rear wheel wells. These can allow water to get in under the back seat and that will run down and saturate the foam backing of the sound barrier and turn it into a rust generating machine.

I've found that using am electric (1400 psi) pwer washer does a great job of cleaning the carpets. Also, your can bridge tears in the carpets (after cleaning them) using material from an an old pair of blue jeans for backing. Clean it up, slather the blue jeans and the back of the carpet with contact cement and patch it up. The repair is surprising strong and flexes to follow the contour of the molded carpet. this is an especially good repair for the inevitable tear that usually develops near the driver's right foot.
