Even if the AC doesn't work, you should be able to hit the AC switch and the fan come on to cool down the left side of the rad.
If it doesn't operate, check the dash switch by swapping back and forth the recirc switch as the guts are the same, just the front indicator different -- so if your recirc lets the flapper door open and closed while running, then you could try swapping those to determine the failure. If the switch is OK, then look into the relay and the fan itself.
On my car, the fan will come on if you depress the AC switch whether the power to the AC is on or off. And of course check the fuses first....duhoh
