which is the open side with exposed balls. Silicone lube such as Parker O-ring lube or dielectric grease helps inner collar slide over shaft and outer collar slide back into its housing. Pre- airbag cars had 8mm threaded holes in steering wheel to allow puller use for removal. Airbag steering wheels have no such holes. Airbag steering wheels can be popped loose on splines by loosening the 22mm nut so there's a 1/8-inch or so gap. Then while sitting in drivers seat and supporting the wheel from backside on ones knees, hit the nut with a wooden dowel until wheel releases. Then remove nut and wheel minding ABS wires.
