The air recirculating solenoid in the the passenger footwell of my Saab has 3 ports. Vacuum hoses labeled IN, 7, and 1 are connected to them.
The other end of hoses IN and 7 attach to the fresh air intake ports in the passenger footwell. The IN hose "T's" off in between and also connects to the air distribution valve on the back side of the fascia.
Hose 1 comes directly off the recirculating solenoid and connects to the air distribution valve.
Hose 5 should be capped (off) then? Mine is open and swinging free bird style. I'll be going upside down in the cabin again tomorrow and I'll get another look and better understanding of what's operating as advertised or not.
I was in the for another reason but my blower and center vent are responding abnormally now. Not the position 7 blower problem. I can't really describe it exactly. I have full use of the blower and in all switch positions including when the system is off. I can hear air venting rather dramatically during operation of the ventilation (heat). When I shut the engine down the hissing sound continues loudly for a very long time before it tapers off and out. I suspect I pinched a line or knocked one off somewhere.... ?
The air distribution valve on the fascia is connected properly electrically.
Is the port labeled 7 on the air distribution valve suppose to be open (no hose) for sure? Stupid Bentley. Should have gone Haynes. :-)
