Oh, is that what that white tube is? I thought that was a hose connector
which of course made me wonder where it should go. So it is capped off then.
Long story short (ish)... In the last few days I've gone into the void of the dash a few times.
1st to troubleshoot a no start issue that turned out to be iced up (literally) fuel pump relays. I used a space heater and dried everything out and it started up just fine. When I put dash and fascia back together I only had blower volume control at position 7.
I tore it apart and inspected everything and hose 1-6 is/was connected to their proper servos from the air distribution valve. That is when I noticed the open spot on the distribution valve, free bird hose 5, and hose 7 at recirculating solenoid. When I didn't find anything wrong with it (still not sure where the resistors are...) I put it back together and realized I had hooked up the distribution valve incorrectly electrically. When I fixed the problem everything was OK (ish) but there was still the awfully loud hissing/vent abnormal sound.
My mission into the space today was routing 2AWG battery cables through the passenger footwell and into the engine compartment via the wire/hose harness that terminates at the vacuum bottle and power steering reservoir. Now everything ventilation is all kung fu hooey!
So yes, to answer your obvious question :-) I did inspect my work to ensure all hoses were still connected properly but... I did not inspect for kinks which is probably a likely factor considering what I was doing.
I'll have to go back in... although does a kinked line explain fully functioning low- high blower speed even on the off position as well as excess air built up in the system (evidenced by abnormal hissing/venting)?
