by ensuring that its green/white wire goes to alternator. Blue wire for oil pressure switch sometimes is connected to alternator by mistake. The green/white wire connects to small terminal closest to big cable terminal on alternator. Then check that green/white wire has power by turning ignition switch to "on" position and observing that battery charging lamp on dashboard lights up. If it doesn't light, then check for an open circuit in crimp-on connector, green/white wire, dashboard foil, steering diode on foil, or charging light bulb. If bulb is blown, replace it with similar wattage (2 watt) bulb, so that alternator will get adequate current. You can test alternator in place with a similar charge indicator circuit.
