plugs-resistor or not?

The manual says NGK BCP-6EV for city driving, 6ES alternate, and BCP-7EV for normal, 6ES alternate. Most of the replacement NGKs are BCPR so have a resistor built in. I think the Saabs like mine have a resistor that sits on the radiator housing with a wire that connects to the alternator for signal supression, hence the use of non-resistor plugs. Am I seeing this right? I don't want to put on resistor plugs and find that they interfere with something (ironically). Any help would be much appreciated.
