I think you guys are off base here a bit. There were basically 2 different diameters on Bosch fuel pumps The larger diameter was older.
Bosch used the same pumps on turbo and non turbo cars in the same years. That is until the Walbro type pumps started. They did have several different looking electrical connections, but that can be gotten around easily. So if you have a larger diameter pump and go find a later smaller diameter pump, all you need is the correct big black bellows and the correct black can that sits in the tank. All the pumps had plenty of capacity.
My information comes from lots of years fixing these cars and my Bosch parts catalogues
The later , smaller diameter pump measures a hair over 2 inches.
I suspect some of us have some used parts to make any setup you need.
