'93 Convertible Busted Windshield Posted by eric in vermont [Email] (#2058) [Profile/Gallery] (more from eric in vermont) on Mon, 5 Aug 2024 14:33:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi Saab Friends,
My '93 Convertible took a rock from a passing dump truck a couple of weeks ago. I called Hagerty and they were great and I had a deposit in my account that very day for their estimated cost, and if the bill is more, they'll pay the difference. Really good so far.
Then I called Safelite and they were all over it and were coming today to put in the new glass. I got a call yesterday- sorry, we can't get a windshield. Good luck. Bye bye. Not so good.
I called a little local mom and pop glass shop in town and they said they could get a windshield and saw some in stock at several places. They also said that they would install a used one if I could come up with one. Whew. Feeling better.
So here's my question: what about the gasket?? Going through old posts, it seems the convertible gasket is glued in and can't be reused. And Chris Myles said that Vert windshields are NO FUN and the car should be scrapped (a bit tongue in cheek, but it HE says its a pain... well that's something).
I do see that RBM lists convertible gaskets. So I could order one of those for $218 plus shipping.
Advice? Thoughts? Prayers for the dead?
thanks so much,
eric in vermont
