Jack up the car for good clearance underneath. Use jackstands, of course.
Remove the skid plate. 12-mm front and 13-mm rear. On mine, the rear bolt heads needed to be grabbed with vice grips. In my case, I also had to use a crowbar to pry the skid plate away from the bottom of the transmission and then reshape it a bit. I hate the speed bumps around here!
Take off hood for decent top access. (it's pretty easy: undo 2 12-mm bolts on the hinges, take off windshield washer hose, lift the hood up and find a place to gently land it.)
Remove turbo ducting. I also removed and drained the intercooler. When I have some more time, I'll use solvent to get all of the oil out. (It'll stay oil-free for about 15 minutes :-(
Remove the two fans.
Remove the APC solenoid.
Undo the 2 10-mm bolts on the sides of the mount retainer.
Wash hands, change clothes, find the keys to your wife's car, run out and get 2 10-inch long 1/2-inch extensions, a breaker bar, a 19 mm socket, and lunch. (It amazes me how well McBurgers grease dissolves residual grease on the hands.) The nut attaching the mount to the front of the transmissions is torqued on big-time and the extensions are needed to get to it.
Jack up the front of the transmission. A 4x4 helps to keep the jack from cracking the transmission case. Jack it up just enough to work the mount out, so you don't stress the radiator hoses too much.
While you're down there, check your CV joint boots. Both of mine tore over the last month.
And, as they say in the old country, installation is the reverse of removal.
It's gratifying to find that the only thing that was left over after I was done was the old motor mount. Success!!!!!
