You're welcome, SaabBob!I haven't had transmission problems... yet. But I honestly believe it's all in how you drive. I don't do stoplight drag racing, don't ever try to go to redzone boost in 1st gear, and don't slip the clutch or powershift. I got 90K out of the original clutch and expect this one to last me awhile longer.
I'm also careful with the gears and don't downshift aggressively when coming to a traffic light -- a technique I've seen too many people use. To me, brakes are for stopping; I don't need to downshift to slow down. (I'm a flatlander here in Florida so I don't have to go down any mountains or steep hills.)
Anyway, I guess the answer to your question is that I sort of baby the Beastie's gears. When I do a hard accel, it's either a mid-range thing in 3rd gear, as with an onramp approach to a freeway with a short onramp, or it's a brief excursion from highway speeds in 5th up to some illegal speed for passing purposes. In either case, I'm not shifting under all that boost. In fact, in normal city driving, I use my boost gauge and tach for all accels, keeping it out of the yellow. I rarely employ WOT (though I was doing it a lot in testing my AID setup) and might run a whole tank of gas having only ventured into yellow zone turbo boost once. I consider the turbo a sort of "emergency use" or safety feature, available to me if I =really= need to have it. (In other words, I drive with a lot of restraint!) So far, the Beastie's tranny seems to be holding up okay.
