I'm not sure it goes in counterclockwise...I have the Saab tool and just turn it in the direction of the dogleg on the tool. In any case, I turn the piston so that it goes IN to the piston. The yoke is pushed by the back piston so when you pull or lever the yoke toward you to gain clearance for the outside pads, the front piston (the one you turn) comes out again. So turn the front piston in just enough to allow the inner pad to be installed.
If you turn the front piston in too far, it is supposed to self-adjust outward with a few hits on the service brake pedal (emergency brake lever held up 4-5 clicks).
