is from a DIY point of view. I am just not sure I can put the balance shaft chains, sprocket, guides, tensioner, the timing chain, guides, sprockets and tensioner back together properly with the proper sequence and No. 1 piston at TDC, even with the help of a shop manual. I am even less sure I can put the head back together and restore the engine to its prior performance. And this is assuming the valves have been certified by a machine shop to be straight and all. As you know, the head bolts are to be torqued in three stages.
To me, removing the drive train and replacing the engine is not precision work at all. There are so many fewer things you need to watch out for not taking the engine apart. Anyway, I am glad I did it when the timing chain on my '94 cs slipped on the crank shaft. I only had to pay one grand for an engine and put it in myself.
