I thought that that should be the case but they are not lined up together. in fact when i had the head off if i lined up the notch in the cam with the v on the bearing cap, the valve would be slightly open on the #1 cylinder. I actually tried installing the head this way and noticed that it was rocking a bit and so took it off again and noticed something wasn't right.
I have just installed the head again and i used the marks on the gears. they are perpindicular to the head and line up with the bearing caps. the cam marks though are now about 10 deg. aft.!!
Have you seen this before?? I can't imagine that the cams were incorrectly marked at manufacture...?
