Hey all- this is kinda longish...

I just picked up my car from my mechanic (awesome guy), and here's the low down of what I had done- wow!

-Oil Cooler lines (rebuilt)
-Cylinder Head gasket
-Timing cover gasket
-Exhaust manifold gasket
-cranksahft pulley (and associated seals)
-Water pump
-New 24# fuel injectors installed (also reset AMM)
-Clutch slave cylinder (replaced master a week prior)
-Clutch plate & throw out bearing
-4 quarts of mobil one
-Misc seals
-Oil pressure sender
-fluids (coolant, power steering, dot 4)

I think that's it. I brought in the injectors, crankshaft pulley, and the cyl. head gasket. All the rest he provided. I got this all done for a hair under 2200 bones. Considering the extent in what was done, I'm VERY impressed. I stopped in last week to say hi, and most of my engine was out of the compartment- I know it's not really a big deal, but do it to your car, and see how it makes you feel. Anyway...

1) My car had been driven in europe for the first 11 years of it's life (hard miles), and the original clutch was just about down to the rivets... oh yea, just be sure to replace both the master and the slave clutch cylinders at the same time. I didn't. I gambled, and lost. Didn't even make it a week with the new master until the slave gave up. Oh, well.

2) After a brand new clutch (hydraulics and plate), the action is super light, and it's like I'm learning to drive stick all over again. Wow, that's sticky.

3) 24# injectors made a huge difference in the consistency of the boost- I don't have a calibrated boost guage... but I nailed it in 5th a few times, boost went 1/2 into the red- and stayed there (SPG9 Stage1 APC, 3.0 bar FPR). I've never seen this kind of performance in my car before. I don't think that I've ever had my head rock back at 75 mph acceleration, either. Especially with the crappy winter formulated 91 octane gas. Wow. In case you couldn't tell, I'm really happy.

4) Next, I have to figure out what to do with an A/C compressor that's out of R12...

I wouldn't have known squat about my car if it weren't for this BB. I don't post a whole lot, just hang out and read... well, keep the magic flowin'- you guys rule. Keep it real.

Nik
