Kinda long-winded here too.
Yeah this BBS is tops. I've saved a fortune since I started reading regularly just a few months back, just from discovering eeuroparts.com. I wish I found this place a long time ago. I bought my 93 9000 CS new and put every one of 170K on it. Mostly highway. I used to get nuked on parts.
I read your post and agree you came out in pretty good shape. I did the slave a few years back and that measly part plus labor ran me out to $600.00 at the local SAAB dealer. I don't do too much dealer any more but did just pay them for 1/2 hour diagnostic time to get a SAAB cert. mechanic poking around under my hood. I took the diagnosis to my regular guy, with me bringing in all the parts from eeuro - both chains, a water pump, and two pulleys ($160.00 in parts) and he's going to do it all for about 2 hrs in labor @ $60.00 per. Not too bad in my book.
I wanted to get the chains replaced before they go since I have 170K on the originals. Water pump not leaking but bad sound; same for the pulleys. Car still runs great.
