Modified ecu and boost controllers Posted by MTAERO [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Saab 9000 Aero, Karl ![]() |
The only function the ecu modification "must" do is map fuel and ignition in response to the various sensors in the trionic system, boost control doesn't have to be part of the ecu operatioon if its function is replaced by a suitable boost controller. Don't knock the ricers, they have developed very well behaved boost control devices. Our Saabs on the other hand have very sophicated fuel and ignition systems in the DI equiped cars.
WE need some level of adjustability in our engine managment systems in the United States.
Don't be so proud of your ECU upgrade if it doesn't need any of the crutches that fellow posters often refer to in defending their various choices in Ecu Upgrades.
If you,re not afraid of spending about $500 but anhigh quality Japanese electronic boost controller and use it with any of the modified Ecu,s and you will see the "who's best question become irrelevant".
for reference,
my cars include
95 9000 Aero Abbott Ecu, 2002 Subaru WRX, 99 volvo V70,and 99 BMW M Coupe.
