Re: Modified ecu and boost controllers Posted by Karl [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Modified ecu and boost controllers, MTAERO ![]() |
Hi Gary,
Oxygen sensors is not my strong point. I'm replacing mine this week as I've started getting six blinks from "Check Engine" when turning ignition on, and that indicates O2-sensor malfunction.
BTW, why do you need leaded race gas. Here in Sweden there is unleaded race gas available. Most people here use 102 octane or octane boosters for track days, which is usually sufficient in our ambient conditions. But you're at altitude also, right?
One of the most useful features about Trionic is IMO the adaptability of the system. That means that if I would like to I could have a very aggressive software map that allows me to run ridiculous amounts of boost under good conditions (cold weather or high octane fuel), but it would lower boost when driven more cautiously and with lower octane gas. Trionic will simply lower the boost that you're "allowed" as soon as it senses knock. All it would take is an adaptation run and you'd be back in "afterburner mode" as soon as you switch gas quality.
But I like to get the basics right first: fuel delivery and cooling of intake air. That means better intercooler and larger injectors. We'll see how far that goes, but I'm willing to bet somewhere very close to 300 real hp, while still remaining safely within the limits of what the engine and turbo can handle and with all factory safety systems intact. The transmission is, of course, a completely different story... Boost levels will probably end up quite similar to my previous software, at least up to 4500-5000 rpm where the larger injectors will come into play.
Later,
Karl
