Tried them - good tyre but would rather stick to.... Posted by Traffic Shark [Email] (#180) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Traffic Shark) on Sun, 3 Feb 2002 13:00:40 In Reply to: Toyo, Mark, Thu, 31 Jan 2002 18:09:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Either Dunlop SP5000 or Bridgestone S-03's-
Now granted tyres are debateable and tend to be chosen with a mixture of knowledge/experience and preference of name brand/appearance.
I have used SP5000's and recently went over to S-03's AFTER testing Toyo's on the advice of the tech at my local tyre dealer.
They looked well and performed nicely but i also live in a constantly weather changing region(New England) that brings more rain than snow in winter since i am near the ocean. I also drive through some serious S curves on the highway(quite fun!!) and combined with the weather I need a tyre that will hold up to my standards. I will not tolerate any tyre that will wear easily under spirited driving; not accept a tyre on the principle that if many people buy them(Honda, acura, toyota, vw) then all is well for other cars. And since I constantly pick on these "custom" cookie cutters I want a tyre that is prepared to handle sudden higher sprited driving. So the name, to me, is only good AFTER it has performed up to my satisfaction none sooner; by the way my S-03's are fun but I give them a few more miles to see if the SP5000's are soon returned!!
Apologies for the rant-
