A 1992 with 160,000 miles and a rebuilt (GM)engine and a 1994 LS 5 speed/24 valve Isuzu engine with 135,000 miles. I bought them to sell (I'm a dealer), but I have to say I'm much more impressed with them then I thought I'd be. In spite of relatively high miles they both run and drive quite nicely, at least within the context of being sport utes. The interiors (cloth) look like new, everything works, they don't squeek or rattle and they cruise down the highway at 75-80 with ease. The LS has very firm, comfortable seats that feel like Recaros. The back seat is a lot roomier than most of the smaller sport utes. Previous sport utes were a 95 Pathfinder and 90 Toyota Extended cab (both bought new) and I think the Isuzus compare favorably. I guess the real question is why you're buying one. Unless you are going to be going off road in seriuously rugged conditions such as the rockies, there is little reason to have a sport ute--a Subaru or Audi will do a better job in the situations most people ACTUALLY use their sport utes in. A Saab will haul everything the Isuzus will, get much better mileage, is safer in a crash, and is much, much better on a slippery highway at 70mph. The truth is that most people think Sport Utes are good at things that they really aren't good at. They're big on the outside, but not that big inside. They're heavy but not really all that safe in a crash. They're good at going through three feet of snow, but squirrelly at 65 on an icy highway where you spent most of the time. Very few people trully have a good application for owning one.
