The difference between the 2.0T and 2.3T is like night and day. Don't look so much to maximum power output, which is only about 20HP different, but the torque and driveability are so much better with the 2.3T. Maximum torque on the 2.3 starts from 1800-1900RPM.
I can't comment too much on how difficult it would be, but I would try to get the engine complete with fuel components and turbo. Also get the fuel injection ECU if you can, as this will be different. I don't know about the APC. Was it in the DI cassette on your year? According to the Haynes manual, there seems to be no difference in gear ratios between 2.0T and 2.3T of the same year. Bear in mind that the '94-on engine will not mate with your transmission.
I'm assuming you're looking at a 2.3T, not a normally-aspirated 2.3. Otherwise, don't bother as you'll be disappointed. Also, don't try to fit a normally-aspirated 2.3 with your turbo installation, as the compression ratio is too high for turbocharging.
