I believe Crutchfield sells those for $10-20 (after all, it IS only a couple plastic plugs and a dozen wires or so!), if you don't buy the deck from them. I remember getting one for my brother's car at Radio Shack, and I believe it was only $10 (Ford Taurus).
Typical shop rates for car audio do hover around $50 here, so for the installation labor, that isn't bad, and it's a good deal less than what my Saab repair shop charges per hour!
My guess is they make a lot of money on those wiring harness/kits. And, with the 9000, that is ALL you need. You don't need any DIN adaptor, or special trim plate or special bracket or anything. You could even get by without a new harness, if you cut into the original harness (of course you wouldn't be able to put the old deck back in later). This is assuming you have purchased a DIN deck, which just about all of them are these days.
It's quite typical in the spring and summer months for stores to be running a free install deal on any deck over $100 or $150, but if you can't wait for one of those, it's DIY or pay...
All that said, what deck did you get, and what are your impressions?
