I'd try what Cliff suggested - sounds like it should have been fixed
as part of the repair to the original accident. I just looked up the
part that I think you need - it's one of the rear side rails. There's
a right (92 76 924) and left (42 93 916) one that go for $145 each
from Saab. Your body guy may be able to get them 20% cheaper.
It's listed as a structural component, so this is probably the part
you need. I've removed a complete rear suspension from a vehicle,
without any pneumatic tools in about 2 hours. Once all that stuff is
out of the way, it's just a matter of cutting out the cracked rail and
welding in the new one. If they have to remove the fuel-tank, then
it could add some more time/money to the equation......bummer!
