Those are wise words by A, BUT, if you're into modifications, then you
couldn't find a better candidate for an engine. That is one of the
strongest engines Saab has ever built (the '97 Aero is the same). It
uses internal parts that are good for way over 300 hp. Some think that
it's a stronger engine, internally, than the newer 9-5 Aero. Of course,
it doesn't have the Aero seats, but it does have Super Aero wheels, and
those aren't cheap. Aero seats can be found - here in MA there are two
local salvage yards that I know have full Aero interiors. You may have
to settle for selling the '97 for less than you'd like, but you have MUCH
better potential for tuning with the '98.
