Water in the cooling recipient ? Posted by Serge [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I just have seen, on a french mechanic site ( not a SAAB related one ) that you must never put water to fill your cooling reservoir.
So, my questions are :
1 - is it correct ?
2- is that also a correct statement if demineralised water is used to do so ?
3- what may be the consequences on your engine if you have done that ?
4- what do you have to do to be in the right tracks about your colling system ?
5- If you don't put the Saab product Saab tells you to use, what are the alternatives ( brands, etc ... ) ?
And this is what I have done lately : 2500 kms ago, my Saab mechanic has done his regular job on my '92 9k Cde auto.
But, havin' seen that I have used a lot of the cooling fluid, I have put demineralised water to furfill the reservoir to the Max limit.
What do you advice me to do to act correctly to maintain the car in perfect condition ?
Thanks for all your advices ...
