Zeke , could I have more advices from you here.(Long) Posted by Pete [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Swapping internal engine parts......., zeke, Sat, 2 Mar 2002 06:09:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I trust you that you would give me the correct exit for sure.
To give you evidence here. Up to now , I still beleive that my engine is 100K km to go , unless this big-bang.
Before that time , the engine perform VERY WELL that I don't think it will have any scrapped parts in the engine at the time.
I could take it up to 150 mph @5700 rpm
I could do 1/4 miles within 15.0 sec although it is an auto
No oil eating between 10 K Km changing period at all
In additional, the fuel consumption is excellent to compare with MB E280 W124 of my father when do the long trip.
More than that , cheif mechanic at dealer said in the last time repairing bend rod that the Engine Block , Piston , Ring and all Bearing is in very good shape that he couldn't beleive it is a 150 K Km car.
But for this time , the bang seriously refute those thought very much.
I still have no idea what the H..L the sound came off. Anyway , in this country , Overhaulling job is not a big too job and not too expensive to do.
(Contradiction , to buy a used engine and install it to one car is really hard job to do that the law is very restricted with those second-hand engine- Emission Issues. Anyway , it must do if it has to do.)
I believe that the dealer have been doing this kind of job for more than 500 times for 9000 model. Not only for engine but also transmission. So , he could do at his best.
The hint why so many Saab right here had do O/H job are we are running under too extreme HOT climate right here and the owner (just like me) have to pay for $65,000 for a CSE (fortunately my father bought E280 new $80,000). The car is really expensive in all for this side of the world.

The only question I would like to asked you is now I can't see anything happening to the engine. I just presupposed all of that phenomena. But the dealer will open my engine on this coming Monday. After the disclosing , what should I looking for to make a decision that I should go for a new engine or overhaulling it. In other words - What is the indication that sign me to start looking up for another engine? Broken Crank Shaft, Stuck Piston.
Ohh, I forget to tell you that after the bang ,the car is still start up but harder to rotate the crank when do starting. Only CRUCK CRUCK CRUK sound come from the engine with serious vibration chronic from that sound. But some time it's loud , sometimes it go away , CRUCK CRUCK hit for once / second at idle Very low oil press VDO gauge reading (8-10PSI @Idle)
Very appreciate for your comment.
TIA
Pete.
