one man's "dead" is another man's 2 hour repair job. The question is, is it mechanically dead, or electrically dead (or both)? When you turn the ignition on what happens? Does the EDU under the speedo give any warnings? Does it crank? Are there any obvious or substantial leaks from the engine (in other words, how are all the fluids)?
I think the most important thing is to know who describes the car as "dead" and why.
There are lots of decently running 9000Ts out there, of that vintage, for less than $1000. I wouldn't waste too much time on it.
