Ok, I think that I have a big problem on my hands.

The car is my 92 9000T 5 speed with 210,000 miles.

Yesterday I replaced both the lower ball joints, the swaybar links, and the rear control arm bushings.

On a 9000, that means that the hub is semi loose while changing these and the drive shafts can slide in and out of the inner drivers.

Anyway, all went well until I was backing out of the garage. I made it about 20 ft, and then bang! Car stops dead in it's tracks, and dragged the front passenger side wheel a couple of feet in the dirt. At that point the car was stalled and stuck in reverse. We had to drag it backwords a couple of feet before it would release out of gear. I then rolled it back into garage and put it onto jack stands.

Both wheels are off, and when turned by hand they both turn fine. When turning one, the other one turns the opposite direction like it should. Innitially this surprized me because I was pretty sure that I had bound up one of the drive shafts, and that was the problem.

If you let out the clutch, the car will stall, and the wheels won't turn. Also the car won't go into first gear, and sometimes not into reverse. Other than that it will go into all the other gears, but none will turn the wheels. Basically the thing is locked up.

Once it would slowely turn the wheels, but there was a nasty clunking sound.

What could be the problem? Before this the car was running fine, and the transmission felt great. It was under no power when it happened either.

Could it have been a spontanious breakage, or could my replacing the lower ball joints have screwed things up somehow?

I really need some help here, because I'm stuck at me parents house with no car...

Thanks,

Noah
