All I need is something that has a coaxial digital output (that supports DTS, of course), and will fit in either the dash or in the glovebox. Unfortunately, the may rule out most of the home players and leave only the vastly more expensive built for 12V models. I say may, because my friend at work says some models actually only use about 1/8-1/4 of the space inside their home audio size cabinet, and almost all have the required outputs.. Plus, they are dirt cheap.. So, take the case off, make a custom case thingy, buy a low power inverter to get 120V AC, and voiila! Will have to look into this option more.. I really WANT one that goes in the dash, and there are some nice looking ones just over $300. That isn't bad when you consider I paid almost that much for a nice TAPE deck about 10 years ago, or slightly more for a top of the line CD receiver about 5 years ago. But, if my friend is correct, I can probably rig up a home machine for less than $150, easy.
As for which car DVDs are good, I'd really say Panasonic would be hard to beat, but $$$$$. Sony might be good, if they ever came out with a car DVD player... Kenwood's should be decent, but insane $$$$$, even with my employee discount, which is quite substantial. But, I am looking at, believe it or not, Pyle, as they seem to be the nicest in the low dollar category, which probably is adequate quality considering how much I'll use it. Anyhoo..
