Chris,
I also have a 93 9000kT with TCS, and I've had to deal with TCS problems in the past. First, forget about the on/off switch. That doesn't solve any of the TCS failure problems. Second, make sure you have a competent dealer or indy in your area with an ISAT who can properly diagnose TCS failure. There have been a lot of horror stories on this site about 9000 owners who have spent upwards of $1000 replacing components on their TCS when the real problem was a $75 switch or sensor. I beleive that, more often than not, the problem with the TCS is relatively simple and inexpensive to repair, but the TCS gets a bad rap because it is difficult for mechanics to properly diagnose the problem.
Removing the TCS in the 93 Aero is not a big deal if you can get a good deal on a non TCS throttle body. I had my eye on one for $150 from a local salvage yard, but I decided to keep my TCS in the end (you only need to replace the ECU in the auto tranny models, a much more expensive proposistion).
If you live in the northeast or an area with lots of winter, I would keep the TCS because it really is a great help in bad weather. Be prepared for the potentiality of a TCS failure and the dreaded "limp-home-mode", but it's usually relatively inexpensive to repair if properly diagnosed.
