Although 2 cells on the battery seemed quite low , the digital voltmeter still showed 11.58 volts . I would have tried substituting it with the one from my truck but the truck is out of town . I took a chance and purchased a new battery from Costco which was all it needed . Have you ever bicycled any distance carrying a car battery ?
The multimeter shows the brand new battery is only 12.3 V. (less than 1 Volt stronger than the old dud). Is it a question of current here ? The old battery worked like a charm 2 weeks ago after a few hours on the charger at 2 amps. One thing that did happen was the brittle rubber hose on the end of my old hydrometer broke off and fell into one of the cells while I was checking the specific gravity 2 weeks ago . Could this have contributed to the batterys rapid demise ? I am certain the hose did not fall into the 2 cells that are the lowest charged . It fell into one of the end cells , both of which test in the green !
