the center pin on these switches is adjustable. After a while, it fails to activate the switch inside. Most of these switches are easily fixed by resetting this center pin.
It's easier to do if you pop the switch off the bracket (although some folks have been able to reset them in-situ.) To remove, there are 2 plastic ears which you must compress to withdraw the unit. Once it's free you can grab the center pin and pull firmly outward on it. It will it will make a clattering sound as the center pin extends to the stop; this is normal. Hold down the pedal, and pop the switch back in place. (Some compression of the pin might occur to get the switch seated again; this is OK.) Let the pedal back up and the pin will adjust itself to the right position.
You should do this to both the brake and clutch pedal switches. HTH!
