On mine there is a steel collar pressed into the tranny, into which the speed sensor is screwed. This collar gets loose. The way to fix the problem is to press the collar back in, but that is hard with the tranny in place. I was advised here to try pounding the whole assembly with a wooden stake from above (broom handle), taking care not to damage the wires. This worked for a while, but the problem did come back. Without being able to properly press the collar in, you may have to live with it. You may be lucky and just have to clean the wire connectors like bill mentions
