I aint no AC expert... [that being said, he continues nonetheless]
In my experience there is only a few things that can be wrong as far as strictly the AC (not ducts).
1) you have no freon or not enough (or whatever). Can know this by checking pressure (you probly don't have the tool but is not a big deal for someone to do it).
2) you have freon, but the compressor is not working or the belt is not turning the compressor.
3) the condenser doesn't work, but never seen that (seen leaky ones).
all the stuff is EXPENSIVE when you take it to the shop. I used to recharge it myself, but don't know if you can even buy the stuff today.
anyways, you can tell if the darn thing is working or not because you should feel one side hot and the other side very very cold. if it's cold, but not cold in the car, it means it's fan/ducts/vents problem. if it's not cold, then you have one of the problems I already listed (or something else, but I'll defer to the experts on that). At LEAST you can tell is it your AC or is it ducts which is what you seem to be asking.
If the radiator isn't cooling well things will be hotter in general, but in most SAABs I've seen the AC has its own radiator and fan - you can check just by following the hoses. Good luck.
