....really "need" to have the wheels refinished on my 91T...the car is running fantasic and otherwise looks good, except for the grundgy clearcoat on the wheels. Quotes from Wheels Collision Center are about 100-150 per wheel, add dismounting and re-mounting at a local shop 60-70 $ ...shipping ....and the whole job could be around 700-800 dollars. Hmmm is it worth it? Ive also seen a website where this guy uses EZ Off oven cleaner to do the job himself !!! Of course one could use regular paint stripper etc..but it sounds like a very unpleasant job to say the least. Wheel weights, does anyone know if shops still use the stick on type? are there alternatives ? my car currently has the clip on type (which ruin the clearcoat) ...you cant tell me that a brand new car, an expensive one with expensive wheels, would have clip on weights applied if it needed them ? gotta be a better way .
