I have used Bosch rebuilt starters and altenators with no problems. I am not even sure you could find a new one. Anyway, the alternator is about half your quote from Sobstory. Make sure you get the 115 amp and not the 80 amp. Same deal with the starter.
Alternator looks harder than it is. Take out the power steering pump and the power steering pump mounting bracket and it comes out that hole. Disconnect the battery first. You need a strong 8mm allen wrench (not a socket, the actual allen key). The longer the better.
I did the starter on a non-turbo and it was a real pain in the behind. With the turbo, it's not as much of a challenge.
