Zeke, what about the adapter?

After installing the JT 3" DP, 3" cat you mentioned, and 3" to 2.25" adapter, will the pipe connecting the cat to the middle muffler need to be shortened?
I'm trying to avoid having to lug my car over to a muffler shop. I like doing things myself since I know it will be done right (plus it's cheaper).
I really wasn't looking into replacing the mid-muffler with a straight-thru pipe from the cat, let alone having to have someone cut my system to shorten the cat-to-mid-muffler pipe if needed.
Now I don't know which is better: 1/2 3" JT and 1/2 stock, or full 3" JT. Not only is price weighing the decision, but also which way is easier for me to do it myself.
Would the fact that my car is a '98 and only has 50K help in the war against frozen, rusted, heat-welded nuts and bolts?
