Not sure this is going to help you much, but I had one of my bolts securing the roof work loose and I tighten it all up this weekend. In any event, the panel itself is secure by 6 TORX bolts, 3 per side. Two are at the rear and are easily visible when you tilt the roof. The front one is a real b&%$#h to get at but you can get a thin handled TORX driver in there to loosen it but getting the bolt back in might be a trick. It appeared to me that once these are all out (probably get the fronts out first, then tilt the panel and get the backs out), the panel should come right out. This would not address the problem if you really need to remove the rest of the mechanism. In this case, I think it gets real ugly as even Haynes says take it to omeone who knows what they are doing.
