It's a really easy job. Only hard part is cleaning the cv joint grease off your tools. And use rubber gloves.
All you need to do is to undo the wheel nut (32mm) and the 2 bolts holding the strut to the hub. If you are just replacing the outer boot, you should be able to get away with not even undoing the inner boot. The outer joint is held onto the driveshaft with a snap ring. Take the ring off, slide off the outer joint and then the boot. Installation is reverse of removal. Did Haynes invent that phrase?
If you need to remove the whole shaft, undo the large clamp on the inner boot and the inner tripod bearing slides out with the boot. Make sure the car is in neutral when you do this. Also, get a big tube of new cv joint grease. I am intending to buy special cv joint clamp pliers when I do the inner boot on my 91 next week.
